First Year Graduate Students



Below is a listing of class credits you should take in your first 2 semesters. For PhD students, this listing is required in the order shown to facilitate the Comprehensive Exam & Preliminary Research Defense, required to maintain your student status.

As a graduate student in the BE Program, you are required to take the department core courses listed towards your degree. The remaining class credits (electives) are negotiable between your major professor and your graduate committee. Before the beginning of your 3rd semester, you are required to work with your major professor and your graduate committee to decide on the best path for you based on your research, and complete a Program of Study (POS).
