Anna Doloman is a PhD student, getting her degree in Biological Engineering. Her research focuses on anaerobic transformation of wastewater into gaseous energy, and she manages a kindergarten of bacteria that make this transformation possible. The goal of her research is to facilitate a sustainable waste management, when value-added products can be obtained from wastewater. Anna’s research specifically aims at finding, training and maintaining aspects of this project.
• Finding bacteria that effectively convert organic waste from wastewater into methane gas;
• Training identified bacteria to produce methane at high rates;
• Maintaining modified bacterial consortia in the active state while storing consortia at different temperatures – refrigeration, freezing and freeze-drying.
