The research that I am conducting is studying the impact of outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) on plant health. This research is to investigate OMVs from beneficial plant microbes in hopes to gain a product that can prime the plant against environmental stressors. The microbes will be subjected to stressors to increase vesicle production for studies on the vesicles’ properties. A root mimetic microfluidic system will be constructed as a method of OMV isolation and further study. The OMVs collected under varying stress conditions will be analyzed to derive an understanding of vesicle activity. These isolated OMVs can be applied directly to the rhizosphere for study of OMV effect on plant health.
