Biography

I am an Assistant Professor in Engineering Education Department that is housed in the College of Engineering at Utah State University.

Teaching Interests

I am interested in teaching entry level engineering courses that incorporates experiential learning with motivational constructs to form well-rounded engineering professionals.

Research Interests

I am interested in learning about the interface of classroom learning environments and accessibility of resources (mentoring, student support, training materials) in the self-efficacy, formation, and emotional/mental well being of engineering students. Literature points to these constructs being integral to professional formation of students and in student retention and performance. In my work, I use electrodermal and biological markers as indicators of students' emotional arousal with a combination of self-reported surveys and qualitative interviews in a mixed-method manner. I am also interested in student well-being through the revealing and uncovering of Hidden Curriculum in Engineering, which are the unwritten norms, values, and beliefs that are held by majority actors in engineering.
